Runescape Dupe - Is there an Active Dupe in RS2007?

Runescape 2007 Gold has been dropping in price quite drastically over the past several months.  Curiously, it has been happening since a few weeks before Mod Reach was fired at Jagex for putting exploits into the Runescape 2007 code, presumably exploits which allowed him to create wealth through a Runescape Dupe.  Although there are no explicit confirmations that Mod Reach was doing this to generate gold in order to sell off later, it has been suggested by many on Reddit and elsewhere.  To read about the Mod Reach situation, click here.

The Mod Reach incident happened all the way back in April 2015, and this blog post is being written in July.  Is it a coincidence that gold prices have dropped constantly since his departure?  Did he leave an active dupe in Runescape?  This is a question that many people are wondering, since the timelines seem to add up perfectly.

What is a Dupe?

Specifically, a "dupe" is a method which allows people to duplicate items in Runescape.  Now, there have been dupes in the past which worked exactly this way.  People duped tons of Party Hats back in Runescape Classic, which completely messed up the economy for a long time.  In 2012, there was a glitch which allowed players to duplicate a max cash stack.  Click here for more details on that.

Today, the issues that generate wealth are not traditional definitions of dupes.  They are instead bugs, which allow players to accumulate wealth at much higher rates than usual.  Furthermore, when experienced bug abusers combine these bugs with scripts, or bots, and multiple accounts, then the results can destabilize the economy.  One of the most recent bugs was the Corporeal Beast glitch, which several different players/groups botted and used to make massive amounts of wealth in RS2007, or OSRS.

This glitch was fixed right around the time of Mod Reach being removed from the team, which has led many to speculate his involvement in abusing the Corp Beast glitch.  Regardless, these days most people include wealth-creating bugs into a broader definition of a Runescape 2007 Dupe.

Active RS2007 Duplication Methods

The most recent dupe method patched in OSRS was the Rat Pits dupe method.  Click here for the details on the fix.  A quote from a major bug abuser, however, hints that there may be much bigger exploits still active:

I personally believe what Quint is saying to be correct.  The RS2007 Gold prices have dropped significantly between the time that Jagex announced the Rat Pits dupe to be fixed.  One would assume that if there were no more active RS2007 dupes, and if Jagex fixed the largest wealth creation exploit remaining in the game, then the price of gold would increase.  At the very least, it would not continue to fall.  However, the prices have indeed continued to fall.

The reality is that these exploits are extremely valuable to the people abusing them.  They can earn bug abusers thousands of dollars by selling their earnings, so they never reveal their methods.  To do so would guarantee them being fixed, and being exploited by the masses.  So, don't expect to hear anything about active Runescape dupes until they are fixed.  Afterwards, people will often come out of the wood work and brag about abusing them.

My personal opinion is that there are still methods being exploited to earn wealth in RS2007.  There is no other reason for the prices to be falling in the market.  The population in-game is not decreasing, and sales are not decreasing for our gold company.  The prices for gold are just simply dropping.  This may be a good time to take advantage and buy cheap RS2007 Gold, our prices are now a staggering $1.69/M.  This is by far the lowest we've ever sold RS2007 Gold, and I can't see these prices continuing once Jagex catches whatever bug is currently being abused.

Best Runescape Moneymaking Method

This article will describe the best way to earn gold for free in Runescape.  It takes advantage of the Wilderness Warbands supplies.  You'll need to create multiple accounts and add P2P (members) to each of them.  The more accounts you have, the more money you will make.

When you have created your level 3, do the tutorial and use a Bond on it to add members.  Once you have done this, the character is ready to begin collecting Warbands.  Warbands is run once every 7 hours, every single day, at the very same time each day.  You can find the time that it begins using the ticker on the Runescape Wiki.  There is also more information there on how Warbands works:

Basically, you go out to the level 12 Wilderness north of edge where the camp spawns.  Hop worlds until you find one with an active camp.  Wait until other players have cleared the camps, then loot the supplies.  Run down to the bank after looting and join the Friends Chat (FC): "Safe Trades"

In the FC, find a trustworthy buyer, since you will need to trust trade the supplies.  They can be transferred by the other party PKing you, or by you dying to an NPC in the Wild, if your combat levels differ greatly.  

You can collect 25 supplies 3 times per day on each character.  25 Supplies = 2 Million Gold.  So each character can make 6M gold per day.  A bond costs ~6.1M and lasts 14 days, therefore this method can break-even after one day.  However, some players do not have time to do all 3 runs per day.  Even with 1 run per day, however, you will make 2 x 14 = 28M per 14 days.  After factoring in the price of a bond, that is 28-6 = 22M profit per 14 days, per character.

This all takes about 10 minutes per run, per character once you are experienced and have a good rhythm going.  That means you can earn ~12M per day if you do 2 runs per day on 3 characters, which works out to 360M each month, with only 1 hour of work per day.  

This is the BEST moneymaking method in Runescape right now.  If you are serious about earning gold quickly in-game, you should learn how to use this method.
